When I looked up the word 'Woman" in the Oxford English Dictionary I was amazed at the the number of words exist as synonyms and what more most of them are derogatory. We are likened to animals and food,, We are called witches, battle axes and harridans Our appearance is criticised, we are referred to as items of clothing and body parts and out sexual morals as also commented on. I used my Victorian dictionary of slang and my Feminist Dictionary as well as online dictionaries to discover words I didn't already know !
Women’s words have been sewn on to jacket as a metaphor for the historical dominance of the patriarchy in literature and the words which have been recorded.
